Abstract

The main purpose of the study is to characterize the features from the perspective of their impact on national security. It has been proven that adaptive management of small enterprises is a flexible, security-oriented approach to managing small business, which allows for continuous learning and adjusting activities based on operational feedback and changing conditions. It has been determined that small enterprises are particularly vulnerable to fluctuations in the external economic environment, often being the first to feel the consequences of any crises and changes. The key need for adaptation to martial law by small enterprises has been characterized. Key characteristics of the impact of martial law on the formation of an adaptive strategy for small enterprises in Ukraine have been identified. It has been proven that in wartime conditions, an important aspect for business survival is the ability to quickly respond to changed conditions. Small enterprises, which demonstrate high flexibility, are able to quickly reorient production, change the range of goods or services, and even relocate their activities to safer regions. The peculiarities of the impact of the activities of small enterprises in Ukraine on strengthening national security have been determined. It has been established that in practice, adaptive management of small enterprises may include reassessing business operations, marketing strategies, and product offerings in response to customer feedback and competitive pressure. It has been proven that in the context of globalization and the growing integration of international markets, small enterprises must find new opportunities to enter the international level, while simultaneously facing wartime on the domestic market. The war in Ukraine, which began as a result of a full-scale invasion in 2022, had a serious impact on national security and significantly changed the security activities and directions of small enterprises. It has been determined that some enterprises have switched to manufacturing or trading goods necessary for survival and defense, such as tactical equipment, medical supplies, and locally produced food products, demonstrating a shift from ordinary commercial activity to one that supports the immediate needs of the population and military.
