Abstract

As a result of theoretical research, it was established that motherhood is not only a biological, but also a socio-psychological phenomenon, which is formed under the influence of personal experience, upbringing and social norms. It covers various aspects, including the motivational component, the level of emotional maturity, cognitive readiness and behavioral strategies that determine the awareness and responsibility of a woman in accepting the maternal role.

The analysis of scientific literature allowed us to detail the structure of psychological readiness for motherhood. It was found that its key components are motivational, cognitive, emotional-regulatory and behavioral. The interaction of these components ensures the ability of a woman to consciously perceive future motherhood, overcome difficulties and adapt to new conditions.

Particular attention is paid to factors that influence the formation of psychological readiness for motherhood. It has been established that this process begins in early childhood through the first social interactions and role models. Later, it is influenced by life experience, the level of emotional maturity, interpersonal relationships and sociocultural factors. The influence of social expectations is significant, which can both promote and inhibit the formation of readiness for motherhood.

A special place in the study was occupied by the analysis of the age factor. It was found that psychological readiness for motherhood varies depending on the age of the woman. Younger women more often have idealized ideas about motherhood, while in a more mature age the level of awareness and responsibility increases, but new difficulties may arise, in particular increased anxiety and difficulties in combining motherhood with professional activities. Conceptual approaches to understanding readiness for motherhood were considered, its main components, forming factors and age characteristics were identified.

Psychological readiness for motherhood is formed under the influence not only of age characteristics, but also of social, personal and emotional context. The level of support from the family and society, the presence of positive experience of intergenerational interaction and the stability of living conditions are important factors that can contribute to the development of a conscious approach to motherhood. Taking into account these aspects is necessary for the creation of effective psychological programs aimed at supporting women in different periods of their lives. The obtained theoretical conclusions are the basis for further research into the methodological aspects of studying this phenomenon.
