RESEARCH ON THE INFLUENCE OF FUTURE PSYCHOLOGISTS' COPING STRATEGIES ON THEIR PERSONAL READINESS FOR PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY

Abstract

The article carries out a comprehensive theoretical and empirical study of the problem of the influence of future psychologists' coping strategies on the formation of their personal readiness for professional activity. Modern scientific approaches to understanding coping as a system-forming mechanism for regulating individual behavior under stress, uncertainty and professional workload are analyzed. The concept of R. Lazarus and S. Folkman regarding problem-oriented and emotional-oriented coping is considered, and the functional role of individual strategies in the structure of the professional development of a future specialist is also clarified. It was found that the dominance of adaptive or maladaptive ways of overcoming difficulties determines the level of formation of professionally significant qualities and determines the ability of the individual to respond constructively to professional challenges.

A model of personal readiness is theoretically substantiated, which includes motivational-value, cognitive-reflective, emotional-regulatory, behavioral-operational and social-communicative components. It is proven that coping strategies perform an integrative regulatory function, ensuring the coordination of external requirements of professional activity with the internal resources of the subject. The proposition that adaptive strategies contribute to the development of professional subjectivity, responsibility, emotional stability and reflexivity is substantiated.

It was experimentally proven on a sample of 210 students of the specialty 053 "Psychology" that active coping, planning and positive cognitive reappraisal have statistically significant positive correlations with all structural components of personal readiness (p ≤ 0.01), while behavioral withdrawal and self-blame demonstrate stable negative relationships. According to the results of multiple regression analysis, it was established that the coping repertoire explains 52% of the variability of the integral indicator of readiness (R² = 0.52; p ≤ 0.001), which confirms its predictive potential.

Conclusions were drawn about the systemic nature of the relationship between coping strategies and internal resources of professional development and the need for targeted development of adaptive strategies for overcoming difficulties in the process of professional training of future psychologists was substantiated.
