THE LEVEL OF CORRUPTION IN UKRAINE ACCORDING TO INTERNATIONAL ESTIMATES

Abstract

The article examines the impact of corruption on the country's economy, its investment climate, economic and national security of the country. it also examines the economic losses from corruption: direct (reduction of revenues to the budget of the country and their inefficient use) and indirect (reduced level of economic efficiency). The state of corruption in Ukraine is analyzed according to the results of research carried out by experts of Transparency International using the Corruption Perceptions Index; the trends of its change for the period 2012-2022 are established; the reasons for the growth of corrupt practices in Ukraine are proved; the place of Ukraine in the world ranking of the Corruption Perception Index is determined. As the results of the study show, our country is still at the bottom of the chart, belonging to the countries with a fairly high level of corruption. Over the past 11 years corruption manifestations in Ukraine have partially decreased, as the Corruption Perceptions Index has increased by 7 points in 2022 compared to 2012 from 26 to 33 points. However, this growth is quite insignificant: on average 0.7 points per year. There are also two dips in the Corruption Perceptions Index: in 2013, 2019, and 2021The results of the survey of foreign investors in 2020 through an online form created by Info Sapiens were analyzed: the main obstacles to foreign investment were established. According to the results of the national sociological survey of the population and business representatives for a comprehensive assessment of the corruption situation in Ukraine according to the Methodology of the standard survey on corruption in Ukraine, approved in 2021. The order of the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) established the type of corruption, which in the opinion of entrepreneurs poses the greatest threat to the development of the state economy, as well as highlighted the most corrupt areas of the national economy. The most negative and positive effects of corrupt practices on the economy are characterized.
