Abstract

Modern economic nationalism is a term used to describe a policy that emphasizes internal control over the formation of economics, labor and capital, even if it requires the introduction of tariffs and other restrictions on the movement of labor, goods and capital. It opposes globalization in many cases, or at least it is a matter of the benefits of unrestricted free trade. Economic nationalism can include such doctrines as protectionism and import substitution. Economic nationalism has been and remains the economic foundation of a national idea that at various times, under different conditions, performed and performs one function - the protection of the economic interests of the nation. The Ukrainian national idea, from its inception and before independence, had a national liberation character that corresponded to the aspirations of a large part of the population. In an armed struggle, it was an economic war to protect the Ukrainian population. In the modern Ukrainian national idea, constructive, creative character, aimed at the comprehensive revival and development of the Ukrainian nation, welfare of all citizens and economic security of the state must prevail. The article analyzes the main factors determining the essence of economic nationalism in political economy of F. Least. The structural-logical scheme and components of economic nationalism are isolated. Proposals on the significance of the policy and ideology of economic nationalism for modern Ukraine are presented. However, outside the scope of the review, questions remain regarding the basic foundations of economic nationalism for the Ukrainian economy in the context of its integration with the European Union. This confirms the connection of the author's work with important scientific and practical tasks and unresolved issues to which this article is devoted.
