Abstract

The article explores approaches to conflict management in foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the potential for applying these approaches in Ukrainian NGOs. The relevance of the topic of the study is due to the growing role of civil society organizations in Ukraine in the conditions of war, institutional transformation and growing donor needs, which is accompanied by an increase in internal organizational tensions and conflicts. Of particular note is the fact that small and medium-sized Ukrainian NGOs operate in conditions of limited resources, high emotional stress, hybrid volunteer-professional teams and unstable funding, which requires effective but at the same time accessible conflict management mechanisms. The purpose of this article is to systematize and comparative analysis of approaches to conflict management used in foreign small and medium-sized NGOs, with the determination of the conditions for their effectiveness and adaptation potential in Ukrainian public organizations. The methodological basis of the study was the methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, methods of systematization and generalization, and the method of questioning. The scientific results obtained consist in systematizing the main approaches to conflict management in foreign small and medium-sized NGOs, as well as identifying the strengths, limitations and conditions for the effectiveness of these approaches. The use of combined approaches is proposed as the most effective, under the conditions of support by management and integration into everyday organizational practice. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of using generalized international experience to develop adapted conflict management systems in Ukrainian NGOs. Prospects for further research are related to empirical testing of the effectiveness of individual approaches in the Ukrainian socio-cultural context, war stress, mixed teams, as well as to the analysis of their impact on the stability of the organization, cohesion and retention of personnel.
