THE CRYPTO INDUSTRY AS A POTENTIAL DRIVER OF UKRAINE’S POST-WAR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

This article explores the development of the crypto industry as a potential catalyst for Ukraine’s post-war economic recovery. The author examines the current state of the virtual asset market in Ukraine, focusing on both the implemented and pending steps toward the legal regulation of cryptocurrency circulation. Particular attention is paid to the practical implications of the Law "On Virtual Assets," which opens opportunities for institutionalizing the sector but still requires complementary regulatory mechanisms and financial infrastructure.

The study includes an overview of international practices in countries that have successfully integrated cryptocurrencies into their financial systems, such as Singapore, Switzerland, and Estonia. These examples help demonstrate how crypto technologies can serve not only speculative purposes but also act as a channel for long-term investment, a driver for technological entrepreneurship, and a tool for expanding financial inclusion.

Special focus is given to the role of crypto instruments in job creation, enhancing economic mobility, and attracting capital—issues that are especially relevant in the context of post-war economic reconstruction. The article also addresses the risks associated with market volatility, cybersecurity threats, and the potential misuse of digital assets for illicit activities, including money laundering and shadow transactions.

In conclusion, the paper outlines a set of strategic directions aimed at integrating the crypto industry into Ukraine’s national economic policy. These include establishing a coherent regulatory framework and creating institutional support for innovation. The analysis suggests that the crypto economy, if approached with a balanced mix of incentives and safeguards, could become one of the key growth points for Ukraine’s future development.
