ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND THEIR MEASURABILITY AMONG FOOD INDUSTRY ENTERPRISES OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The topic of environmental protection continues to gain relevance among society and in the business environment of Western countries, which today are leaders in this issue.  The development of this problem in Western countries has already led to the formulation by a large number of enterprises of personal clear and measurable environmental goals of sustainable development, limited by the time frame of achievement. Today, the global business environment is paying special attention to environmental sustainable development goals, such as Objective No. 16 “Modification of the Impact of Climate Change” and No. 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”. [1]. The priority of the Sustainable Development Goals in Ukraine is currently different from world experience and the environmental aspects of sustainable development in the business environment of Ukraine are given less attention. The question of the prevalence of the existence of environmental goals of sustainable development and their quality in comparison with Western companies is quite difficult and expensive. To try to understand the state of things in this problem and causal and consequential relations without high material costs can be analyzed by analyzing some layers of the largest companies from the area of business, which is oriented to mass production and sale of products among all strata of the population of Ukraine. The focus in the study was given to enterprises of the food industry of Ukraine because of their massive interaction with the population of all strata and publicity of such companies. The research was carried out using the method of searching for information from open sources, mainly from the company’s web pages on the presence of environmental goals of sustainable development in the enterprises of the food industry of Ukraine, their measurability and the availability of timelines of achievement was analysed. An analysis was also carried out of the dependency of the existence of environmental goals of sustainable development from the affiliation of the company to foreign capital and hypotheses were made about possible reasons for the difference in approaches to the formation of such goals. The lack of public information on environmental aspects of sustainable development can not speak of its absence in the company at all, but clearly defines the vision of the value of bringing such information to consumers by business.
