IMPACT OF INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES ON THE MANAGEMENT OF FINANCIAL STABILITY AND PERFORMANCE OF FUNCTIONING ENTERPRISES IN THE PACKAGING INDUSTRY

Abstract

The article examines the strategic importance of the packaging industry for the national economy and the need for enterprises to adapt to the requirements of European legislation, which requires significant capital investments. It has been established that in conditions of high cost of financial resources and macroeconomic instability, the issue of finding a balance between investment activity and maintaining financial equilibrium becomes critical for business survival and development. The aim of the article is a comprehensive analysis and substantiation of the theoretical and methodological foundations of the impact of investment activity on the management of financial stability and performance efficiency of enterprises in the packaging industry in the context of contemporary economic challenges. To achieve this goal, a set of general scientific and specific research methods was employed. The study found that investment activity is a determining factor in ensuring the financial stability of packaging industry enterprises, as it allows for the renewal of fixed assets, reduction of production energy intensity, and adaptation to the requirements of the circular economy. It is proven that investments in the development of biodegradable materials and «smart» packaging not only increase product margin but also open access to premium market segments and international certifications. A direct correlation was identified between strategic eco-investments and the growth of profitability indicators. At the same time, an analysis of global trends indicates risks associated with excess production capacity, which requires Ukrainian manufacturers to adopt a balanced investment policy aimed at increasing efficiency, rather than merely scaling up volumes. It is substantiated that in conditions of high capital costs, merger and acquisition instruments can serve as an effective mechanism for maintaining liquidity and strengthening market positions. The structural-logical scheme of the impact of investments proposed in the work demonstrates the synergistic effect of capital investments: technological transformation triggers a chain of improvements leading to increased profitability, stabilization of cash flows, and, consequently, an enhancement of the enterprise's investment attractiveness. Thus, the management of financial stability in the modern packaging industry should be based on a systematic approach to investment planning that integrates innovative development, environmental responsibility, and monitoring of global market imbalances.
