Abstract

The article considers the place of institutions of professional higher education in solving the issue of providing the labor market with skilled workers. It is noted that the analysis of statistical and operational data on the functioning of this level of education is important for understanding the trends of its development, the needs that exist today, the essence of the problems that may affect the concept of development. Such an approach would make it possible to assess the scope of work for further improvement of this level of education. It was emphasized that for some time such an analysis was quite difficult, as there was no systematic approach to collecting information on the activities of only institutions of professional higher education. This has now become possible with the publication of an interactive dashboard based on a questionnaire collection organized by the German international agency Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to analyze statistical and operational data on the functioning of institutions of professional higher education, as well as their economic security. The article systematizes the information on the ratio of the number of educational institutions of this level by region, analyzes the contingent and its proportional ratio of the budget order-training under the contract. For this purpose, statistics related exclusively to vocational higher education institutions, type of “College” institution (data were provided by educational institutions from twenty-four regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv) were singled out from the materials.The materials of the article consider the ratio of the number of colleges by regions, which made it possible to draw a conclusion about their greater concentration in industrial regions and centers in comparison with agricultural regions. The quantitative composition of vocational higher education institutions as of January 2020 was analyzed, the vocational higher education institutions with the largest number of students and the smallest contingent were identified, which made it possible to make a comparative analysis of vocational higher education institutions in one region. The systematization of indicators on the contingent and, accordingly, the conditional division of educational institutions of this level into seven categories is proposed, which gave the opportunity to obtain results that help to form a general picture of the occupancy of professional higher education institutions and generate forecasts for their further development. It is emphasized that a comprehensive analysis of the work of vocational higher education institutions can be an information basis for further development of the vocational education system at the national and regional levels and one of the factors influencing the financing of individual educational institutions.
