ANALYSIS OF THE FUNCTIONING OF UNIVERSITIES FROM THE POSITIONS OF INFLUENCE ON NATIONAL SECURITY OF UKRAINE

Abstract

The study of Ukraine's position on the Global Competitiveness Index makes it possible to state the fact that the key indicators are lagging behind: innovation, higher education and training, business development. These elements are key in developing the national economy and ensuring national security. Therefore, the emphasis on improving positions on these indicators should be a top priority in Ukraine at all levels of government. The problem of the development of science and innovation in Ukraine through the lens of university activities has been considered by many scientists, but an unresolved problem remains the analysis of the current state of performance of universities in Ukraine with the identification of factors influencing the performance of scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff, as well as the identification of key threats arising from the low level of functioning of subjects in the field of science in Ukraine. The article provides a thorough analysis of the activities of higher education institutions in Ukraine, analyzes the main problems that lie in reducing the level of funding for the field of science, which leads to an increase in unfavorable trends that have a significant negative impact on the level of national security. It is proposed to raise additional funding in order to increase the efficiency of the university's activities and thus facilitate a positive impact on the national security level of Ukraine. It is recommended that universities in Ukraine follow the example of foreign colleagues who actively engage with their own graduates to disseminate university values, traditions, and mutual assistance; providing feedback to adjust the educational process and financial support from alumni. In addition, it is advisable to coordinate cooperation with business structures, since they are interested in attracting young university graduates to staffing, collaborating with universities to carry out innovation activities, conducting advertising campaigns through universities. In addition to business structures, cooperation with government agencies should also be considered, as they carry out activities in the social, environmental and other spheres that are additionally funded by the state budget or international donor funds.
